The curriculum for Senior High Drama is a more in depth look at the units students would've studied in Junior High Drama. Though it is for all students, it is geared slightly to those who may be in pursuit of a career in drama or drama education. Its main goals focus on self-growth, communication, and appreciation for drama as an art form, similarly to Junior High Drama.
Orientation is focused on once more, but in a smaller quantity. It assumes that students have some knowledge coming into heir Senior High program. Units of study that follow Orientation include Movement, Speech, Improvisation/Acting, Technical Theatre, Theatre Studies, Directing, and Playwriting. I would highly recommend using the Teacher Resource Manual for Drama, made by Alberta Education. This guide outline all of the general and specific learning outcomes for drama, as well as ideas for implementing programs and lessons in your own class. Here is a link to the book online: |
