The curriculum for Junior High Drama is almost like a sample plate for what is to come in High School, and a potential future career in drama. Its main goals focus on self-growth, communication, and appreciation for drama as an art form.
Orientation is at the root of the entire program, building routines and laying the groundwork for what is to come. Units of study that follow Orientation include Movement, Speech, Improvisation/Acting, Technical Theatre, and Theatre Studies. I would highly recommend using the Teacher Resource Manual for Drama, made by Alberta Education. This guide outline all of the general and specific learning outcomes for drama, as well as ideas for implementing programs and lessons in your own class. Here is a link to the book online: |
